Help us rebuild
Share our story
Share our Story. I would like to be a testimony to others in similar situations that you can start again, rebuild, rebound and recover. All is never lost. I am living proof despite it all you you can persevere as a single mom; rebuild and restore from nothing but ashes. I’m an open book sharing my journey. Help me help others in my shoes.

FixSomething Detroit is a community project to share knowledge, man power and responsibility for restoring our homes and city environment. We are home owners, tradesmen and DIY’ers, but above all we are invested in Detroit.
We don’t sit back and watch, we don’t do it for profit, we come together ready and willing to help each other get started and successfully complete our home projects. We believe, Detroiters can FixSomething and we”Friends don’t let friends renovate aloneโฆ”
We welcome your participation, project submissions, sharing of resources and suggestions for classes. Just email us at FixSomethingDetroit@gmail.com. Don’t forget to visit our events page or our group on Meetup.com to see what we have planned next.
About Me
I was born and raised in Detroit. In my late teens the military took me for a journey thousands of miles away. No matter where I lived or what language I was surrounded by I never felt far away from home. This is because the “Spirit of Detroit” stays with you.
It is a resilience that allows you to thrive no matter where you end up. Detroit remains in your heart. Our city is deeply rooted in culture and diversity which allows any Detroiter to find commonalities between ourselves and people anywhere in the world. From Tokyo to London …. Santiago to Dubai … We know people and for that reason home is always just around the corner.
After years of travel, I returned to Detroit. I have seen the city and our people go through the hardest of times. Still, Detroit has not lost is creativity or endurance. Buildings have crumbed, but they have not lost their 1920’s charm. Our city still stands and our spirit is more vibrant than ever. The people of Detroit are don’t mind getting our hands dirty to reclaim our treasures.
