Spring is officially here when the tulips come up through the ground.

Last year the back yard got ahead of me and turned into a freaking jungle. This year I’m gonna get on top of it and save myself the headache before the hydra-esque wild grapevine takes hold and sprouts it amazonian leaves. I jumped on it while it was still in its dormant state.

Yep… it was an absolute mess!

On the upside I found these cute pops of lush decorative grass all over the place. I decided I would relocate it to one area of the yard, since I need to level out quite a bit of it and replant grass seed.
The idea is to have a tree company come remove the dead trees and grind out the stumps. Then I was going to get a couple new ones to plant straight.

After I got tired of playing in the dirt, I turned my attention to the inside again… well not exactly. I started putting these storm windows on. Ive had so may nightmares and worries about these windows. So it was a little surreal to get them up.

It was surprisingly easier than I expected. The only hang up was the flanges were 1/4″ too wide… no problem since the were pre-scored to cut them down for this exact reason.
I should make it sound like it was all peaches and cream. The flanges was incredibly difficult to cut with tin snips. However my Blade Runner with a metal T shank bit cut through the aluminum like butter. What was the problem? It was also loud, so loud my ears were ringing. So I paused after the second window and put earplugs on my shopping list. Another issue is that I was not able to comfortably screw in the screws across the top of the window. I was fastening the windows by slightly hanging out the window from the inside. It was nearly impossible to do that safely with the top screws. I decided I would need to do the last screws from the outside on a ladder. This is the part where wish I had a second set of hands.
