We started the total replumb of the house. Though we ran into the occasional snag or two things were moving along relatively smooth. They jacked up a portion of the basement and layed the pipe for the bathroom and then moved on for the laundry.

That’s when they found a crack in the drain lines under the cement. My plumber let me know it needed replacing and it would be a few hundred more. Ok no problem… right? Oh you are so very wrong my dear!
Turns out all of the drain pipes were just crumbling beneath the concrete floor.

They would all need to be replaced. All 50+ linear feet under the concrete. Plus the house has a house trap…that may need to go as well… which turns out to be a big deal since it extends from the basement to about 5″ outside of the house. In plumber world excavation means mo money – mo’ money – mo’ money. She told me I may need to talk to the bank (I have a lady plumber btw).
So what do you do when you’ve hit a major road block and dreams are twirling down the drain literally. You buy a god-damn farmhouse sink for the kitchen and press the fuck on! I come to far to give up now. I will find this money and a plumber that can do it for a decent price. This is why it pays to have alternate streams of funds and a couple stashes that aren’t too accessible.
Here’s a pic of the sink. I got it on eBay for $300… It’s a 33″ fluted fireclay sink. Normally retailing for $900 at least. Oh yes I search long and hard for it. I got this one because it has a dinky chip on the front wall… you hardly notice it. I guess the company just needed to get rid of it. Which makes sense. If you’re clients are the ones that pay $900+ for a sink I’m sure they will refuse a sink with stupid imperfections.
