Tile shopping

I did quite a bit of planning to lay out what I wanted the master and main bathroom to look like. They’re both pretty small and after taking measurements for the first time, I realized it was going to be challenge to fit everything in either one.

The master bathroom is really a just a  5′ x 8′  powder room. I wanted to turn it into a full bathroom with at least a shower. So I came up with the scheme of making it a jack and jill bathroom that passes through the bedroom solarium to the second room which is now my closet.

The main bathroom originally had enough room for a tub, however no room for a double vanity. Fortunately it had two closets that could be removed to make room for the vanity.

The new layout will add a sliding door and double vanity at the entrance. It also leaves room for both a tub and shower.

I was soooo preoccupied by the layouts forgot I needed to add finishes and tile. I had ordered a sample of some 12″x24″ turkish carrera marble. But after some thought I realized that might not be the best idea on the floors… marble is hella slippery when wet. I figured a smaller tile in the center would provide more traction with the grout covering more surface. I also would like to add a little brass detail to make it pop.

While I was looking for mosaics I ran across this beauty sold at Tilebar.com

Inara Strathmore Brass & Marble Tile                                                https://tilebar.com/inara-strathmore-brass-and-marble-tile.html

I was going to do marble and white ceramic subway tile all the way… but after seeing this beauty I’ll have to rethink the tile scheme.

This pattern is call the “Inara” and it comes in several variations.

Tilebars.com also lets you order samples of tile super cheap to make sure it works for you. I ordered at least 8 samples for less than 20 bucks. I’m almost certain I’m going to do a tiled accent wall or something.
