Remember this?

Well this is what the floor looks like now….

Oh and a few days later it got better… The rotted broken joists were removed.

That’s right ladies and gents. The nightmare I dreaded, we had to pull up the beautiful 101 year old floor.
What happened you say? Water damage took it’s toll. The roof rain destroyed several joist ,the subfloor (which I thought I didn’t have) and the beautiful 101 year old 1 1/2″ white oak strip floor.
I did find a place that sells it but it still breaks my heart and my wallet. The new flooring just for this room will be $1500.
On the upside we were able to level the stairs and several areas of floor. We even added headers to areas that needed support.
This was the staircase before.

The whole thing sloped down on the right side. My structural engineer said that the joist in the basement needed some jacking and metal support post set on a concrete footing.
My wonderful contractor OJ jacked it up and added temp posts. He is working on installing the metal post. I saw the difference immediately.

He also worked on the walls in the dining room. That were water damaged as well. The wood was shot, so he and his right hand man rebuilt it. Notice the new wood.

They also opened up the room and added added a header to support the load

Update…
The floor is coming along, we now have joists.
