I wouldn’t call it Murphy’s Law exactly. So far I’ve averaged out my progress ratio to be one disaster to one project complete. I’m optimistic this trend will change soon, but hey at least it’s not 2 to 1.
This week’s occurrences
Finally, in goes the two massive windows on the top of the staircase.
Mr. Gomez (my handyman) and his partner are great. However, I’m a little wary of his partner’s methods of work. . . I can expect him to work fast and rip out anything that doesn’t function as intended with no regard to historical value, but he does seem like the more experienced of the two and perhaps a kickass drinking buddy. Mr. Gomez is usually able to reign him in a bit so I guess you can say, “balance restored”. He totally looks like he could be Danny Trejo’s brother but don’t let that scare you Mr. Gomez’s partner has a heart of gold. He’s “All Action” of the pair, making shit happen and randomly fixing things just because.
It baffles me I haven’t caught his name but at this point so I’m a little embarrassed to ask. So, until I catch his name we will call him Senor Action Supremo. . . You’ll see why in a second, I digress.
The guys have been a huge blessing helping me with my projects for a fair price. They also figured out how to get those windows in tight without tearing up the original oak trim. The windows are beautiful. They look so wonderful I decided I had to blog about it. It’s the little things right?
While I was taking a picture of their work, Senor Action Supremo yells out the window, “look at the garage!’.
The roof caved in. I shit you not.
Though it was the last thing I would have expected I wasn’t the least bit surprised. The plan before this occurance was to demo and re-frame it but now most of it just needs to be picked up and carted away. Was this a blessing in disguise?
Mr. Supremo likes to think so, he’s been scoping it out and poking around back there since last week. Such a coincidence I asked them to give me a bid for the work a just few days ago. Windows go up, roof comes down… balance restored I guess. LOL
